More than just breaking the losing streak, Paulo Borrachinha 's convincing victory over Roman Kopylov , in the co-main event of UFC 318, last Saturday (19), served to bring the Brazilian closer to the top 10 in the middleweight category (up to 83,9 kg).

Former title challenger, the Brazilian gained two positions in the update promoted this Tuesday (22), surpassing Reinier de Ridder to jump from 13th to 11th place, tied with Marvin Vettori , who lost 10th place to Brendan Allen , his tormentor on the preliminary card of the same UFC 318.

After being knocked out by Paulo Borrachinha at the event, Roman Kopylov lost a position, being overtaken by Abus Magomedov . With this, the Russian finishes in the top 15 of the category.

With Borrachinha in sight, UFC 319 will have a title fight in August

Currently led by Dricus du Plessis , the middleweight division has a title fight scheduled for UFC 319 on August 16th in Chicago, USA. Seeking his third title defense, the South African will face the undefeated Chechen Khamzat Chimaev , Paulo Borrachinha's main target.

However, since he is still outside the top 10, the Brazilian is likely to need at least one more win to have a chance to fight the Chechen. In a recent interview, Borrachinha opened the door for rematches with former champions Israel Adesanya , Sean Strickland , and Robert Whittaker.
