A veteran of the sport and looking to get back to winning ways, Gilbert Durinho shows that it will still take time to recover from the tough defeat suffered by MichaelMorales in May of this year. Knocked out, the fighter admitted that he suffered a concussion in the fight and that he is still following protocol to recover from the damage.
Currently ranked 11th in the welterweight rankings (up to 77,1 kg) and willing to face names that won't make him climb positions to the belt, Durinho opened the doors for a duel against Daniel Rodriguez, an American who has been riding high on three consecutive victories and now occupies 14th place in the division.

“I'm thinking about December. I had a minor concussion, and I'm not ready to return yet, so I still have to do a few more things in the protocol to be able to return to training. I still need to take it easy. It was tough, but I'm thinking about December. I just realized that Daniel Rodriguez got a good victory against Kevin holland. He's in the rankings now. I think it should be a fun fight. Me and Daniel Rodriguez in December, maybe in January,” Burns told the MMA Junkie.
Following his speech, Durinho reinforced the care he will take with the concussion he suffered and avoided setting a date for his return to the octagon.
"We'll see what the concussion protocol will be. I'm looking forward to it. With your brain, you can't play all the time. We have to take this very seriously. Probably in December or January. We'll see how it plays out," he concluded.
At 39, the fighter suffered his fourth consecutive loss in his career and lost his dream second opportunity to fight for the division's belt. On the other hand, Daniel managed to find his feet in the organization and is coming off a major triumph over Kevin holland, at UFC 318.
