Marcus Buchecha opens up about his debut and puts pressure on his opponent at UFC Abu Dhabi

Brazilian revealed he is eager to fight in the octagon, but does not consider himself a favorite

The legend of BJJ Marcus Buchecha debut for the UFC this Saturday (26), in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The Brazilian will have the first fight of the night against the 13th placed in the heavyweight ranking (up to 120,2 kg.) Martin Buday. O UFC Abu Dhabi will begin at 13 p.m. (Brasília time). The multiple Jiu Jitsu champion expressed his anxiety about stepping into the octagon for the first time, but he passed the pressure on to the other corner.

"I'm looking forward to experiencing all of this, but I don't feel pressured," Buchecha told MMA Fighting ahead of his UFC debut. "I think the pressure is on the other side. Of course, I have my titles, my career, my history in jiu-jitsu, and I'll take all that experience with me to the UFC, but I'm not the favorite," he said. "If we fought in the kimono, I'd be the favorite and under pressure to win. With this obligation to win, so to speak. But in MMA, I don't feel that way. I've never felt it in ONE Championship, and I haven't in the UFC either. I'm new to the sport, but I'm looking forward to it," Buchecha said.

New to the world of MMA, Buchecha has a record of five wins and one loss in his short career in the new sport. Known for his offensive style in jiu-jitsu, the American Top Team representative had all of his victories in the first round, with three different types of submissions applied and one via technical knockout.
