Arman Tsarukyan changes target and demands removal of big name from UFC rankings

After attacking big names in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg), such as Charles Oliveira and the champion himself, Ilia Topuria, Arman Tsaruakyan has a new target: Paddy Pimblett. The Russian didn't mince words and spoke his mind about the Englishman, even saying that 'The Buddy' doesn't even deserve to be ranked in the category.

"You have to take (Paddy Pimblett) out of the ranking." He doesn't even deserve to be in the top 10. He beat the last three guys, it was Chandler, he suffered three defeats. It was Bobby Green, he suffered three or four defeats. It was Tony Ferguson "He's suffered eight losses. This is crazy, and you want to bring this guy in to fight for the title? The number 1 ranked fighter took the opportunity to argue that he is the one who should challenge for the belt won by Ilia Topuria over Charles Oliveira at UFC 317.

"Nobody said he's going to get a title shot. So they're still deciding who's going to fight for the title, me, (Justin) Gaethje, or Paddy. But I know they have to put me in because I'm the number one contender right now," Arman said.

Recently, Paddy Pimblett underestimated the chancess to face the Armenian in the UFC. During an interview with 'One On One MMA', Pimblett stated that he prefers to face established and popular fighters, a profile that the current number one lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) does not yet fit.

The Briton went so far as to compare Arman Tsarukyan to Justin Gaethje, and in his view, the American represents a more exciting and prestigious fight, while Arman has not yet reached legendary status in MMA.

“Everyone knows that Justin Gaethje is a hell of a fighter and a legend. Arman isn’t. So I’d love to face another legend, Justin Gaethje,” said Pimblett.
