Former UFC fighter Ben Askren has been hospitalized again. after having been recently discharged of a double lung transplant. The new hospitalization occurred after tests indicated a possible new chest infection.
Askren, who was recovering from surgery at home, returned to the hospital a little less than a week after being discharged for a series of routine tests when doctors noticed signs of infection in one of his chest tubes. The American was immediately readmitted and started on a new antibiotic treatment.

In a video posted on social media, the former Bellator and ONE Championship champion updated fans on his health status.
"Unfortunately, I'm no longer at home. The doctors didn't like the look of the last drain and decided to hospitalize me again. I hope we can resolve this quickly," he explained.
The 40-year-old former fighter has been fighting a difficult battle since being hospitalized with pneumonia in critical condition due to a bacterial infection. Askren was hospitalized for 58 days and eventually required a double lung transplant. Despite the new hospitalization, his optimism remains.
"It wasn't going to be easy all the time. I hope this is just a minor setback," he said.
