Shahriar Zolfaghari left it all – literally – inside the cage during the Fury Challenger Series 14, held last Sunday (28) in Houston, Texas (USA). After enduring a 15-minute fight against the previously undefeated Sean Kennard, the Iranian middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) won by split decision, but drew attention for another reason: he felt sick twice in the octagon shortly after the end of the fight.

While waiting for the judges' official announcement, Zolfaghari suddenly doubled over and vomited in the center of the cage, in full view of everyone. After walking around for a while to regain his composure, the fighter vomited again in another part of the octagon, forcing an unexpected pause in the event for the cleaning crew to sanitize the area.

Despite the awkward moment, the Iranian was declared the winner and had his arm raised in triumph, still visibly exhausted. This type of situation, while rare, is not unprecedented in MMA.

In 2016, the British Paddy Pimblett went through something similar after winning julian erosa at Cage Warriors. Pimblett also vomited after the fight, confusing even the audience, who thought it was blood. Later, the fighter himself explained that he had consumed hot chocolate and Ferrero Rocher before the fight.
