Like a phoenix, Dominick reyes is back among the Ultimate elite. Known as the 'man who unfairly lost to Jon Jones' in a light heavyweight title fight (up to 93kg), the fighter could be one victory away from having another shot at the belt. Currently ranked eighth in the division, the American was called up to face Carlos Ulberg, which occupies third place, to star in UFC Perth, Australia, which takes place on September 13. The information was revealed by the organization.

Defeated by Jones in 2020, Reyes experienced dramatic moments in his UFC career after seeing his chance to become champion slip away in a controversial decision. While trying to return to winning ways, the veteran ended up being knocked out three times in a row, raising serious doubts among his fans about whether he could remain active in the UFC.

Despite the difficulties, Dominick managed to restructure himself in the sport and returned to winning ways after four years. In June 2024, the fighter knocked out dustin jacoby and since then he has achieved two more victories, both by fast track. At 35 years old, Reyes has 15 wins and four losses on his professional record.

On the other hand, Ulberg is riding a seven-fight winning streak and only lost in his debut with the organization, after being signed via Contender Series. Training partner of Israel adesanya, the New Zealander had the biggest triumph of his career in his last appearance in the octagon, when he overcame Jan Blachowicz in a disputed result. This will be the first time the promising fighter has headlined an event. The fight is scheduled for September 13th in Perth.
