Towards the biggest fight of his career, Jailton Malhadinho warm up the engines to face Alexander Volkov, on October 25th, in UFC 321Riding a two-fight winning streak, the Brazilian could become the second-ranked heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) fighter if he defeats his opponent in Abu Dhabi.
Aware of the crucial position he is in, Malhadinho has already shown that he is keeping an eye on a possible duel against the current champion. Tom aspinall. Despite the Englishman quickly knocking out his rivals, Jailton pointed out the negative consequences of the athlete's achievements.
"He's very technical, young too, very skilled in striking as well. He's a guy with a very good ground game, on top. We haven't seen him yet. Tom aspinall on his back on the ground, how he behaves, he's a guy who's never been under pressure for three rounds, two rounds, his fights always end in the first. I was tested already in the division, with a guy who has the knockout record, who was Derrick Lewis. I caught a very dangerous guy, who was Jairzinho (Rozenstruik)”
“I managed to take down a wrestling guy, Curtis blaydes, I ended up being defeated obviously, but I managed to take him down several times. I was more tested than the Tom aspinall "Basically, in every sense, a guy who's gone a lot of rounds. He needs to be tested from the third round onwards to see how he behaves, from the third round onwards as well," Jailton said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Afterwards, Malhadinho reflected on what it would be like to face the champion and did not hesitate in stating that he would use grappling to neutralize his rival.
“I'm a very strategic guy, we didn't see Tom aspinall "I'm on my back on the ground, I didn't see him getting pressure, and I'm a very explosive guy when I go for takedowns. It's going to be a grappling match I'll have with him, to see how he behaves on the ground, how he behaves from the second and third rounds onwards, and it's going to be a really cool fight. He's a black belt in jiu-jitsu, as am I. It's going to be a show that will be worth it for the audience," he concluded.
