Former UFC fighter Matt Brown didn't hold back on criticism after Renato Moicano publicly announced his refusal to accept compensation he was entitled to due to the antitrust lawsuit filed against the organization. Known for his direct style, the American called the Brazilian an "idiot" and questioned the sincerity of his position.
Appearing on the podcast 'The Fighter x The Writer', Brown stated that few people would have turned down the $375 million deal shared between the fighters who played for the UFC between 2010 and 2017.

"I doubt Moicano is one of them, to be honest. It doesn't make it any better. I don't think anyone's like, 'Wow, bro, you're really brand loyal, that's great!' No, everyone's like, 'You're an idiot for that,'" he said.
Matt Brown downplayed the impact of the amount paid by the UFC, stressing that the amount is already 'a drop in the ocean' for the organization, and that the process did not significantly affect the corporation.
"It's a corporation now. You're not changing Dana's day by taking the money. After the lawsuit was settled, Dana (White) didn't think about it for a second," the American said.
The controversy revolves around Moicano's moral stance in rejecting compensation estimated at between $100 and $150, a figure he himself revealed on his podcast 'Show Me The Money.' For the Brazilian, accepting the payment would be "easy money" and unethical in light of the athletes' historic fight against the UFC's monopolistic practices.
