On meteoric rise in Ultimate, Tatsuro Taira got closer to the flyweight belt (up to 56,7 kg) again after his last major victory over Hyun Sung Park at UFC Vegas 108. With only one loss on his record, that was when he was defeated in a split decision by the former title challenger Brandon royval, the Japanese man once again asked for the opportunity to face the champion Alexandre pantoja.
Despite being ranked fifth in the category, Taira held back emotion after Michael Bisping to give his opinion on the Japanese star's plans. Even though he was confident in the athlete's talent, the Englishman suggested that Brandon Moreno be the final test, before the prospect has the opportunity to fight for the belt.
“He’s asking for a title fight. I understand, but I said, ‘You have to have one more fight first.’ I’m not the matchmaker. I don’t make those decisions, but this seems logical. It seems like he would have to have one more fight. Who should that fight be against? I have a choice: it’s the former champion.” Brandon Moreno. Tell me you don't want to see this fight? It would show you the level of Tatsuro Taira and would also allow Brandon Moreno back in contention – not that he’s not in contention, of course,” Bisping said on the UFC on ESPN 71 broadcast.
At 25 years old, Taira has achieved 17 victories in his professional career. Currently ranked fifth in the flyweight division, the athlete returned to winning ways in style and guaranteed his superiority over Pantoja by challenging the Brazilian to a duel next. Despite his efforts, the Japanese fighter received no response from the champion.

Meanwhile, Moreno is looking to regain his belt in the future. Riding high on two consecutive victories, the Mexican has yet to schedule a fight and currently sits second in the division.
