Carlos Prates guarantees that he is ready to take advantage of a rare opportunity to 'fix the past' in UFC 319. Initially scheduled to face Geoff neal No. UFC 314, the Fighting Nerds athlete saw his rival replaced by Ian Gary, that ended up overcoming the Brazilian in a five-round fight. Now, with the original fight rescheduled, Prates is more motivated than ever to get back to winning ways.
In an interview with 'Inside Fighting', the Brazilian highlighted that the postponement of the duel ended up being positive, as he arrives more experienced and prepared to show evolution in the octagon.

“I started training for him, but they changed it to Ian GaryNow it's like I stopped work halfway through and came back to finish. I'm excited to step into the cage on August 16th and fight with Geoff neal. I have a lot of respect for him, but today I'm a better fighter, I've trained more, I've learned more, and I want to show my best version,” said Prates.

The Fighting Nerds representative considers the matchup dangerous for both fighters, but believes Neal's style favors his game. Even though his opponent has never been knocked out in the UFC, the Brazilian is confident in his finishing ability.
"I think it's a dangerous fight for both of us. He's a great fighter, he has heavy hands, but I think in the end it's a good match of styles for me... I've done this with other athletes who had never been knocked out. In Brazil several times, in the UFC with li jingliang, and now it will be with the Geoff neal.”, he concluded.
O UFC 319, scheduled for August 16, will also feature the middleweight title fight (up to 83,9 kg) between Khamzat Shimaev e Dricus Du Plessis with Caio Borralho scheduled as a reserve for combat.
