Although he's no longer part of the UFC's flyweight (up to 56,7 kg) roster, Mohammad Mokaev still has fond memories of his controversial but successful time in the UFC. Undefeated in his career, the Russian ended up not having his contract renewed with the organization due to his difficult behavior in negotiations with the UFC's agents.
During conversation with Demetrious Johnson, on the American's podcast, Mokaev recalled the day he starred in one of the most tense moments in UFC fights.

In confrontation against Jafel Filho, the Russian ended up getting caught in a kneebar, but surprisingly didn't tap out, managing to escape his opponent's submission attempt. The reason for not tapping out was, to say the least, unusual.
"Before the fight, I bought a Mercedes and told them I'd pay half now and half after the fight. Halfway through the fight, I remembered I had to pay the money, so I had to survive it," Mokaev said in an interview with Demetrious Johnson.
When asked why he didn't just buy the car after the fight, the fighter was succinct and sincere in his answer.
“Maybe someone will buy it before me, that’s what I thought,” he concluded.
During the fight, even with an injured knee, Mokaev managed to recover from the moment and in an immediate attack on Jafel, the Russian finished his opponent with a rear naked choke, driving the crowd in the arena wild.

Out of the UFC since 2024, Mokaev has so far been unable to pursue a career in another organization. With two more fights outside of the UFC, the fighter has defeated rivals in Brave and 971 Fighting Championship. His last appearance in the octagon was against Manel kape, where he triumphed in the unanimous decision of the judges.
