Recently, Caio Borralho left many fans worried about news that could affect his performance in the most important fight of his career. The 'Nerd', who will face Nassourdine Imavov No. UFC Paris, scheduled for September 6, was selected as a reserve in the main fight of UFC 319, which takes place on August 16th. This means he'll need to make weight twice in a short space of time. However, according to his fitness coach, everything is already properly scheduled.
In a video posted on his Instagram, Itallo Vilardo revealed that Caio's team's initial plan was to reach peak performance in UFC Paris. With the inclusion of the athlete as a reserve in the UFC 319, the preparation needed to be adapted. According to the physical trainer, the team discarded the idea of seeking two peaks of performance, something unfeasible in such a short space of time, and restructured the training so that the fighter would be ready if called upon in the previous event, without compromising his performance in the main event.

“Peak performance was calculated for a few weeks later, in UFC ParisHowever, since we at Fighting Nerds have a very cohesive and united multidisciplinary team, this is very easy to resolve. We know what the real characteristics of each phase of the potential fight will be and organize the training accordingly. There won't be two peaks of performance, as some people think, but we know what Caio's performance will be like if he has to fight this fight (in UFC 319).,” said Itallo.
The strategy contemplates both the possible fight in the UFC 319 as the duel originally scheduled in UFC Paris. Since there's a possibility that the first fight won't happen, and if it does, the second one will be canceled, training is designed to cover all possible scenarios, ensuring that the athlete maintains optimal fitness regardless of the order of the fights.
“From there, we set up a strategy, both for training and fighting. Consequently, we developed the second part, focused on the greater objective (UFC Paris), not because it is a more important fight, even because the first fight (UFC 319) would be much bigger, but for the time that was already scheduled. There is a possibility that the first fight will not happen, and if it does, the second may not take place,” the expert continued.
According to Vilardo, all this work is carried out in an integrated manner with the multidisciplinary team, maintaining the continuity of training and the constant exchange of information between professionals and athletes. The expectation is that, regardless of the challenge that lies ahead, Caio Borralho be ready to deliver a great performance to the fans.
"We organize everything based on the entire multidisciplinary team and all the training phases Caio had been doing before. Therefore, continuity, communication between the multidisciplinary team, and the exchange of information with the athletes are important. We're rooting for him, whatever the fight; whatever fight comes, he'll be ready and prepared, always ready to put on a show for you," concluded Itallo Vilardo.
