According to Chimaev, the idea of retiring from fighting isn't even on his mind right now, especially since he hasn't yet achieved the financial stability he desires. In good humor, the fighter stated that he's focused on pursuing the title and remaining active in the octagon.

"I don't know where they get these things from. I've seen that, yes. But I need money. I don't have enough right now (laughs). I just want to go after a title. I hope that, if I have enough energy, it would be nice to win now and defend the belt in Abu Dhabi, too," declared the Chechen.

Understand the origin of the rumors

Speculation gained momentum after an interview with Caio Borralho to the MMA Hoje podcast. According to the Fighting Nerds athlete, inside information was circulating behind the scenes at the UFC that Chimaev was considering retirement if he became champion, for reasons related to health, external pressure from his country, and because he already had a comfortable financial fortune.
