Norma Dumont is left without an opponent after the former champion announces her withdrawal from the UFC Noche card.

Brazilian, who would face former champion in September, awaits UFC's decision on possible new rival

Norm Dumont is without an opponent for the UFC Night 3. The Brazilian would face Rachel Pennington at the September 13 event in San Antonio, United States, but the former champion announced her withdrawal from the card due to a neck injury.

"This is a tough one to say... I've been in the UFC for 12 years, 26 fights, and I've never had to pull out of a fight," Pennington wrote on social media. "I'm a competitor, but I also need to take care of my health if I want to continue doing this the right way."

The veteran, who was coming off a loss to Julianna Pena In October 2024, she explained that she had been dealing with the problem for some time and even underwent a procedure before her last fight. "This camp has been one obstacle after another. So, yes... I'm devastated to say I have to withdraw from this fight. I still want to share the octagon with Norma when the time is right," she added.

Pennington's departure thwarts Dumont's plans, who saw the fight as a chance to secure the biggest victory of her career and move closer to a bantamweight title shot. Having not fought since September of last year, the Minas Gerais native is enjoying a strong run, with five straight wins and eight triumphs in her last nine UFC fights. A new opponent for Norma has not yet been announced.

 UFC Noche 3 will be headlined by the featherweight bout between Diego Lopes and Jean Silva.

Scheduled for September 13th, the UFC Night 3 is part of the celebrations for Mexico's independence, celebrated on the 16th of the same month. The date has become a traditional date on the Ultimate calendar and usually features a large presence of prominent Latino athletes.

In this edition, the event will be led by the duel between the Brazilians Diego lopes, based in Mexico, and Jean Silva, who face each other in a five-round fight in the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg).
