Five years after debuting in the biggest MMA organization in the world and catching the attention of fans and media, Khamzat Shimaev could reach the top of the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) in case of victory against Dricus Du Plessis in the main fight of UFC 319. In an interview with 'Red Corner MMA' published last Wednesday (6), the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) recalled a short period of time in which he had the opportunity to train with Chimaev at Xtreme Couture. According to him, at the time the Chechen avoided measuring forces with some more experienced athletes.
"You can pick high-level UFC fighters, but you go and pick guys with one win and one loss, but you have guys like Edmen (Shahbazyan), high-level UFC fighters, and you're picking the 1-1 fighter because he's the same height as your opponent. No, man, you're picking him because you're a w****. He can fight, but mentally he's a weak man," said the American.
