Heading towards his first middleweight title fight (up to 83,9kg), Khamzat Chimaev is preparing to face Dricus du Plessis on August 16th at UFC 319. Despite being close to one of the biggest challenges of his career, the wolf isn't finding time to focus solely on his upcoming bout, which will take place in Chicago (USA).
Besides his rivalry with the South African, Chimaev is a declared enemy of Paulo Borrachinha . During a press conference, the Emirati fighter was questioned about the Brazilian's accusation, who revealed he was bothered by alleged messages sent to his girlfriend and partner Tamara Alves. Without hesitation, the title challenger assured that the facts were reversed.

"Why would I direct message someone's wife? She sent me a direct message before the fight, when I announced the fight, saying, 'Khamzat, please don't take this seriously. We're just trying to make money and create hype.' I don't care what they are, I'm just going to take your boy down, and that's it. And then he takes it all personally and stuff. I don't care," Chimaev said at a press conference.
When commenting on the chances of facing Borrachinha in the near future, Chimaev was succinct in his response.
"Man, I beat the guys who beat him. Maybe in the future, if he wins some fights, but I don't think he'll be able to. In the last five years, he's only won one fight," he concluded.
UFC 319's main event, Chimaev, faces Du Plessis for the middleweight title on August 16. The bookmakers' favorite, the fighter hasn't ruled out seeking titles in other weight classes if he can defeat the current champion.
