During a press conference held by 'Corneman', Jean compared the rivalry in the UFC to a World Cup to criticize the stance of Diego lopesAccording to 'Lord,' the fact that the rival represents two flags creates a conflict of identity. The 'Nerd' reinforces that it's important for Lopes to define which side he's on, since, for Brazilians, nationality makes a difference in sports competitions.
"It's kind of like a World Cup now, if you stop and think about it. The difference is that, even though the team isn't from Brazil, there's a Brazilian there. So we need him to make the decision. Imagine: Brazil vs. Argentina in a World Cup and Neymar on the Argentine team. Does it make sense? It doesn't, right? So it's more or less about that. We need to know which side he's on," he explained. Jean Silva.
Diego Lopes responds to criticism about his nationality and reinforces his pride in representing Brazil and Mexico in the UFC.

Target of accusations about his nationality, Diego lopes says he considers the scenario to be 'nonsense', since, according to him, MMA is a global sport, unlike the Olympics where each athlete actually represents their country.
"I think that's complete nonsense. Besides, we're in a global sport. If we were in the Olympics, where you literally have to represent your country, fine. But that's not the case with MMA," he explained. Diego lopes in a recent interview with MMA Junkie.
Diego lopes He stated that he doesn't mind criticism about his dual nationality and that he's already accustomed to hearing questions from both Brazilians and Mexicans. According to him, the most important thing is the support of the people who stood by him through difficult times. Therefore, he guarantees that he will enter the octagon with the Brazilian and Mexican flags, regardless of others' opinions.
"Believe me: For years I've been hearing this nonsense from people like, 'Oh, he's not Mexican. He's not Brazilian.' I've heard it from both sides... I don't care. I know the people who support me and who are with me. I remember the people who were with me when I literally had nothing. I let people talk. But one thing is certain: On fight day, I'll go out with the Brazilian and Mexican flags—whether they like it or not. It's that simple," concluded 'El Brabo'.
Protagonists of UFC Night, Diego lopes e Jean Silva will face off in a five-round duel on September 13. The athletes are hoping to become the next challengers for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) if they win.
