Alexandre pantoja touched on a sore spot and talked about the flyweight division record (up to 56,7 kg). The Brazilian is an unquestionable dominant fighter in the category... today. The greatest of all time on this UFC shelf has already retired. Demetrious Johnson holds the record for most belt defenses, having done so 11 times between 2012 and 2017. But Pantoja promises to surpass that record.

"Give me three years. I can break that record. Two fights a year, that'll be 11 title fights. I want to break that record, but I'm not going to focus on that," he said. Alexandre pantoja in an interview with journalist Jaiden Cable, from the portal 'Home of Fight'.
Pantoja would achieve the feat he planned in his speech at the age of 38. Today, at 35, the fighter has already defended the title four times, after winning the belt Brandon Moreno No. UFC 290. From then on, victories over Brandon royval, Steve Erceg, Kai Asakura e Kai Kara France in 18 months.
Demetrious Johnson: A Legend

The biggest name in the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg) in history is surely that of Demetrious Johnson. The Canadian was the inaugural champion of the category and made his title count. He defended his belt 11 consecutive times, making him the fighter with the most defenses in the history of the organization.
With remarkable speed, 'Mighty Mouse' was dominant between 2012 and 2018 in the Ultimate. He then moved to ONE Championship. The UFC traded Demetrious Jhonson in exchange for Ben Askren in an unprecedented… and frustrating transaction. The American fought only three fights in the organization and lost two. Meanwhile, Jhonson surprised many with his ability to maintain a high level with longevity. Demetrious retired in 2023, at the age of 37.
