Anderson Silva is back in the ring and, by all accounts, ready to reignite one of the most memorable rivalries of his career. According to the specialized portal 'Main Event NL, the former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) will face Chris Weidman, now in a boxing match. The clash marks the third chapter between the two athletes, who have already faced each other twice in MMA.
The fight, with no official date yet, pits two historic names in the Octagon against each other, but this time under the rules of the noble art. Weidman won both previous UFC bouts in 2013, ending Spider-Man's undefeated streak and also the fateful fight in which the Brazilian suffered a broken leg.

Anderson Silva dominated the middleweight division for over seven years, with 10 consecutive title defenses. His undefeated streak ended in July 2013 at UFC 162, when Weidman stunned the world by knocking out Spider after the Brazilian taunted him inside the Octagon.
At UFC 168 in December of that year, the two faced off again. However, the rematch ended even more traumatic for Anderson. While attempting a low kick, the Brazilian suffered a broken leg from a perfect block by Weidman, who won again by technical knockout, this time due to injury.
Anderson Silva in boxing
After his departure from the UFC in 2020, Anderson Silva entered a new phase in his professional boxing career. He has notched up significant victories, such as his triumph over Julio César Chávez Jr., and appearances in highly-watched events, including exhibition fights against names like Jake Paul e Chael Sonnen.
Chris Weidman also tries a new chapter
Weidman, meanwhile, has had his ups and downs since his victories over Anderson. He has faced recurring injuries, including a serious leg fracture in 2021, and has never managed to establish the dominance he achieved during his time winning the belt. His last appearance came in December 2024, at UFC 310, when it was surpassed by Erik Anders.
