Khamzat Shimaev showed that he is in shape – and with plenty of strength – on the eve of the UFC 319 next Saturday (16). During a relaxed moment during fight week, the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) starred in an unusual scene when he lifted Daniel Cormier, a former two-time Ultimate champion and current commentator for the organization. The meeting between the two took place outside the hotel where the athletes are staying.
In a joking tone, Cormier – famous for testing fighters with improvised takedowns and holds behind the scenes – tried to 'lasso' Chimaev.

The Chechen's response, however, was immediate: he easily lifted 'DC' and spun him several times in the air, drawing laughter from those watching. The scene went viral on social media not only for its humor, but also for the sheer strength Chimaev demonstrated. It's worth remembering: Cormier, retired from competition, weighs over 130 kg. Yet, he was lifted as if nothing had happened.
The moment also served to increase the buzz around the name of Chimaev, who faces the champion Dricus du Plessis this Saturday (16), in Las Vegas (USA), in the main fight of the UFC 319. The fight is for the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg), and marks the Chechen's first title fight in the organization.
