The defeat for Ian Gary did not lose heart Carlos Prates and the Brazilian is confident of returning to being a name in the fight for the welterweight division belt (up to 77kg). In an interview with journalists during the half day, the Fighting Nerds athlete considered that he is one knockout away from fighting 'in the heads' again.
"I learned a lot about listening to my coach, and first and foremost, the importance of a proper game plan. Of course, Ian is great. He's a very smart, very intelligent fighter. But I also learned that being a complete fighter is important," he said. Carlos Prates.
"Sometimes it's time to stop thinking only about bonuses, knocking people out, and entertaining people, and just focus on winning. Because, at the end of the day, winning is more important than getting bonuses or anything like that," he considered.
"After Geoff neal, life will be at the top of the division,” Prates said. “You know when you talk about who’s close to a title shot? Maybe one, maybe two, or three fights? So you have some names there. I lost my last fight, and I don’t think my name is there. But I think after winning… Geoff neal, my name will come back with the guys close enough to a title shot. Maybe three fights or a year (from now) I can fight for the belt.”, he stated Carlos Prates.
