Considered one of the biggest prospects in MMA, Aaron Pico was signed by the UFC after a successful stint with Bellator and had high expectations for his debut in the new organization. He was considered a favorite for a fight against the undefeated Lerone murphy, the American, however, ended up having a bitter taste when he stepped into the octagon for the first time, in a fight that took place in UFC 319.
Despite a promising start against the Englishman, Pico was caught by a fatal counterattack from his rival and was knocked out in a terrifying fashion when Murphy's elbow landed hard on his face. Even in a tense atmosphere due to the severity of the situation, the prospect downplayed the damage he suffered and assured that his story is not over.

"Last night wasn't my night, that's how fights are. I'm grateful to my team, my family, and everyone who continues to support me. To the fans who've been with me since day one and to the new fans, I see you! Thank you. Wins and losses teach lessons, and I'll come back sharper, stronger, and better prepared. Thank you to everyone who sent messages and asked how I'm doing. My health is great. Thank you for being with me. My story isn't over," Pico declared on his official Instagram account.
At 28, Pico suffered his fourth knockout loss in his MMA career. Established as a wrestler and boxer, the fighter had been riding a three-fight winning streak and was eyeing a title shot if he defeated Murphy.
In response to the post made on Pico's social media, Islam makhachev expressed solidarity with the athlete and sent a positive message, suggesting that his head should remain high after the bitter episode in UFC 319.
