How are UFC rankings determined?

A group of global media outlets, including Brazilian representatives, vote for the 15 best fighters in each division and in the pound-for-pound ranking (regardless of weight). Champions and interim champions are not voted for in their categories, but may appear in the overall list. The average of the choices forms the official ranking, published on the organization's website.

Each week, impressive victories, such as quick knockouts or submissions, boost athletes, while losses or prolonged inactivity cause declines. Beating a top-15 fighter, for example, is worth more than beating an unranked fighter, and fights in high-profile events carry extra weight.
