Hired to try to curb the momentum of Alexandre pantoja as flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg) in the UFC, Kai Asakura has not been able to prove his true worth in the organization so far. Former RIZIN belt holder, the Japanese fighter suffered his second defeat in the octagon when he was defeated by Tim Elliot in UFC 319.
Having been submitted again in combat, Asakura received a barrage of criticism and questions from fans eager to see his triumph in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Making no excuses about his performance, the athlete spoke out on social media and admitted to accepting the pressure imposed so far.

“I’m sorry to everyone who supported me. Honestly, I’m disappointed in myself. Things don’t always go as planned, but I won’t give up and will continue working hard to get back on track. I will become stronger and prove it with results, so that one day I can look back on this defeat as a positive experience. I will accept harsh criticism and come back stronger,” Asakura declared on his official Instagram account after the loss. UFC 319.
Currently ranked 15th in the division, Asakura arrived in the UFC on the back of two consecutive victories in RIZIN, both by second-round knockout. Known for his skill with knees and stand-up fighting, the Japanese fighter ultimately succumbed to two rivals who favored grappling.
In his last appearance, the fighter was considered a big favorite to defeat Tim Elliot, but was forced to tap out when the American received a guillotine choke in the second round.
