Dricus Du Plessis has competed at welterweight

Despite having a dozen fights in the world's largest MMA organization as a middleweight (up to 83,9 kg), Du Plessis competed at a lighter weight earlier in his career. In fact, the South African was the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) in both the KSW and EFC.
His last fight in the lower division was in October 2018. At that time, he suffered the only knockout loss of his career to Croatian Roberto Soldić, an opponent with whom he had a rivalry. Since then, he has won 11 straight fights, culminating in his fight with Chimaev.
