The Hawaii court ruled that B.J. Penn will not be able to have any contact with his mother, Lorraine Shin, until May 26, 2026. The decision was made this week by the Hilo Family Court, after granting a protective order valid for one year.

According to court documents, Shin had initially requested a two-year order, but Judge Jeffery Ng opted to limit the period.

The order states that Penn must remain at least 100 yards (approximately 91 meters) away from his mother, the home where she lives and her place of work.

Furthermore, you are prohibited from attempting direct or indirect contact, whether by telephone, messages or third parties.

The request was prompted by episodes of abusive behavior. Lorraine reported intimidation, theft, tampering with security cameras, and even symptoms of delirium on the part of the former fighter, who was arrested twice in May.

In one account, the mother stated that Penn believed family members had been replaced by impostors. The condition is consistent with Capgras syndrome.

This isn't the first time BJ Penn has faced legal troubles related to his mother. In June, the former champion was forced to vacate the residence he shared with her, also by court order.
