Moicano is challenged by a former Brazilian victim to a rematch at UFC Rio: 'we have a history'

With just under two months to go, UFC Rio is attracting not only the public but also top fighters seeking to be part of the event, which will be held on October 11th. Determined to do whatever it takes to make its presence felt in the Marvelous City, Ismael Marreta surprised and challenged his compatriot to a duel.

In search of returning to the path of victories, Marreta respectfully called Renato Moicano for a confrontation. In addition to wanting to erase his last setback in the Ultimate, the athlete is also trying to avenge the loss he suffered to the veteran when they faced each other in 2014.

“As you all know, UFC Rio will be taking place on October 11th, and I really wanted to be on the card. I've already been offered a few names, but none of them accepted. So, I'm here to extend an invitation, a challenge, actually. I fought against Renato Moicano 11 years ago, title fight Jungle Fight"He won, but I'm here to extend this invitation to us to have this rematch, Moicano. Nothing against it. Nothing against you or anyone else. It's just because I really want to fight and we have a history," Ismael declared on his official Instagram account.

Aware that Moicano is currently ranked 11th in the lightweight rankings (up to 70,3kg), Marreta insisted that his compatriot accept the challenge, due to the fact that both are not in a good moment in the organization.

"You're asking for a fight, and I don't think anyone will accept a fight against you like that either. I know you're way ahead, you're a ranked guy. I'm coming off a loss, and you've also lost two in a row, so the invitation is extended. Let's go head-to-head on October 11th, let's make it happen," he concluded.

So far, Moicano has not commented on Ismael's challenge. When they faced each other, the veteran triumphed via rear naked choke in the first round and became featherweight champion. Jungle Fight.
