Michel Pereira did not have a good performance and ended up being knocked out by Kyle Daukaus in the opening seconds of the first round of the fourth fight on the preliminary card of UFC Shanghai. Michel began the fight with his traditional style, feinting heavily and landing powerful kicks to the waistline with his right leg. At the same time, his opponent sought to march forward and dominate the center of the octagon to impose himself against the Brazilian.
After two solid kicks, Daredevil attempted to initiate a standing exchange with a left jab, while Daukaus landed a powerful right cross from above, taking the Brazilian to the ground. In the following moments, he landed even more blows, forcing referee Marc Goddard to stop the fight after 43 seconds.

At first, Michel seemed to disagree with the referee's decision, but the replay made clear the indefensible state he found himself in at the final moment of the duel.

In the penultimate fight of the preliminary card, Charles Johnson ended Lone'er Kavanagh's undefeated streak at the end of the second round, in a fight valid for the flyweight category (up to 56,7 kg). With the result, the young Englishman suffered his first defeat in ten professional fights and had his two-fight winning streak in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) come to an end.
Clearly faster than his opponent, Kavanagh successfully connected several punch and kick combinations while standing, landing over 30 strikes in the first round alone. Whenever Johnson tried to take the fight to the ground, the Englishman threatened him with guillotines and elbows from the clinch.
Seemingly comfortable in the fight, Kavanagh risked a straight right and, as he retreated, kept both hands at hip height. At this point, Johnson used his experience and precision to land a perfect right cross, which knocked the Englishman out at four minutes and 35 seconds into the second round.
Rong Zhu defeats Austin Hubbard

Following the Brazilian's defeat, Rong Zhu delighted Chinese fans by winning against Austin Hubbard via unanimous decision in a lightweight bout (up to 70,3 kg). With this victory, the 25-year-old Chinese fighter achieved his second consecutive win in the UFC. Meanwhile, the American suffered his third consecutive defeat and now faces the risk of being cut from the UFC.
Zhu's aggressiveness made all the difference throughout the fight. Although statistically the number of strikes landed was similar, the Chinese fighter's impact was clearly more powerful. Hubbard managed to take him down a few times, but was unsuccessful in trying to inflict damage or land submissions on the ground.
At the end of the 15-minute fight, all the judges scored the duel in favor of Rong Zhu, with two scoring it 29-28 and another 30-27.
