Walker started the fight without protocol: he refused the glove touch and immediately went for the takedown. Zhang countered and got on top, but avoided ground work, opting to keep the fight standing. Still in the first round, the Chinese landed a right cross that rocked the Brazilian, but Walker resisted and stayed in the fight with an aggressive stance and a good volume of strikes.

The turnaround came in the second round. With a sequence of low kicks, Johnny Walker undermined the "Mountain Tiger"'s base, which began to clearly struggle to maintain its rhythm. Feeling the impact, Zhang was cornered by the Brazilian, who seized the moment to unleash a series of blows that forced the referee to stop the match.
