The scene shocked the fighting world last Saturday (23). During a pro-wrestling event in Los Angeles, Raja Jackson, son of former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, invaded the ring from behind and attacked by surprise the fighter Stuart Smith, known as Syko StuSmith was facing another opponent at the time when Raja entered the ring and threw more than 20 punches, even after his opponent was already unconscious. The entire attack was livestreamed by Raja himself on his Twitter account. Kick-start. The episode immediately went viral and raised the question: the son of Rampage can be arrested for the attack?
Victim's health status
According to US media, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has opened an investigation and has already interviewed witnesses, but so far, no arrests have been made. The victim was rushed to the hospital and required surgery. Smith suffered multiple facial fractures, lost several teeth, and was "choking on blood and broken teeth" before emergency services arrived, according to witnesses. His condition is stable, but his recovery is expected to be long.
Behind the scenes of the conflict
The attack wasn't completely random. Shortly before the event, backstage, Smith allegedly threw a beer can at Raja, sparking a disagreement. The incident appeared to be resolved, with an apology and even permission for Raja to participate in a skit at the show. However, the broadcast, made by Raja's own son, Rampage showed premeditation. Minutes before stepping into the ring, Raja told his followers: “I’m going to hit him as hard as I can, watch”.
Rampage speaks out
Given the repercussions, Rampage Jackson released an open letter. The former champion confirmed that his son had suffered a concussion days earlier and should not have even participated in the activity. According to Rampage, Raja interpreted the episode behind the scenes as a reason for “revenge” that he believed was part of the show.
"It was an error of judgment and a job gone wrong. I do not condone my son's actions in any way," wrote the former fighter, who also publicly apologized to Smith's family and the audience.
Repercussion in the world of fighting
KnokX Pro Wrestling called the attack “reckless violence” and announced the immediate banning of Raja from its events. The streaming platform Kick-start, where the livestream was broadcast, suspended his account. The reaction from fans and athletes was outraged, with many calling for the incident to be treated not as an entertainment accident, but as a crime.
Renowned journalist Dave Meltzer said the episode was “the worst thing I’ve ever seen in a ring.”
Who is Raja Jackson
At 25, Raja has experience in MMA, where he has one win and one loss as a professional, but he hasn't competed since 2023. His career in the sport never took off, and he recently became involved in live broadcasts on streaming platforms.
As for his father, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, now 47, is considered a mixed martial arts legend, with notable stints in the UFC, Pride and Bellator, having won the Ultimate light heavyweight belt in 2007.
And now?
The case remains under investigation by the LAPD. Raja faces both criminal and civil charges, as there is video footage, multiple witnesses, and proven damage to the victim. There is currently no arrest warrant, but sports law experts point out that the live broadcast of the attack should weigh heavily against the attacker in the case.
