Back to the winning path, Paulo borrachinha is apparently willing to open up his options for the next fight. Previously determined to earn the opportunity to face Khamzat Shimaev, now the Brazilian also placed the then former champion Dricus du Plessis in your sights.
Planning to return to the Octagon later this year, the Minas Gerais native took advantage of the South African's title loss and challenged him to a next fight. In Borrachinha's view, the matchup would be huge in the MMA scene.

"I'm going to fight this year. I still have one more fight in 2025, before Christmas. Dricus is fresh off the belt. He's so unpredictable, a tough opponent to face; it would be a great fight. A huge fight," Borrachinha declared in an interview with Submission Radio.

Currently ranked 13th in the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg). Borrachinha is coming off a great victory over Roman Kopylov, where he defeated the Russian by unanimous decision. A former title challenger in the division, the fighter has already been approached by Israel adesanya to take revenge, but he appears to be focused on the fight against the South African.
In a statement made on Monday morning (25), Du Plessis guaranteed that his next victims will pay for his defeat suffered in UFC 319The fighter still intends to achieve the opportunity to become champion again, even after being dominated by Chimaev.
