Khabib points out the biggest threats to Makhachev at UFC welterweight and snubs Ian Garry

Looking forward to the premiere of Islam makhachev among welterweights (up to 77 kg.), Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed which names his protégé needs to watch more closely in the new division. Considered one of the greatest in history and a mentor to the former lightweight champion, the Russian listed three major threats to his friend and protégé.

In a recent interview with Kamil Gadzhiyev, Khabib Nurmagomedov pointed out the current champion Jack Della Maddalena, the former champion Belal Muhammad | and the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov as the main threats to Islam makhachev in the new category. At the same time, the MMA legend downplayed the risks posed by other names like Ian Gary e Sean brady.

"In the welterweight division, I see Shavkat (Rakhmonov) as someone who demands respect and poses a real risk. Shavkat, Belal (Muhammad). Ian Machado Garry I don't consider it a real threat. I don't see it either Sean brady as a major threat. Stylistically, he's very convenient for Islam. Shavkat, Belal, and (Jack Della) Maddalena are the biggest threats," Khabib said in an interview with Kamil Gadzhiyev.

Currently number two in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, Makhachev relinquished his lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) to pursue the title in the up to 77 kg division. The Dagestani will be the first challenger for the Jack Della Maddalena in a duel with no date yet set by Ultimate.
