Even though he is one of the biggest stars in the UFC today, even Alex Poatán has its not-so-friendly moments with the company. This Wednesday (up to 93 kg.), the former middleweight (up to 83,9 kg.) and light heavyweight (up to 93 kg.) champion admitted that the famous tweet published on his official X account (former Twitter) in May, in which he even threatened to leave Ultimate, was the result of impatience and obstacles in negotiations.

The São Paulo native addressed the issue in an interview with reporter Ariel Helwani this Wednesday (3), on 'The Ariel Helwani Show', on YouTube. According to the fighter, the statement came after the rumor that Jiri Prochazka would face Magomed Ankalayev for the light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg), which he classified as a lack of communication.
“I was upset, but I was the one who did wrong (publishing the tweet). The UFC was trying to set up the fight, and I was like, 'Huh? They promised me the fight, and it's not happening?' But I made a mistake by tweeting instead of going to the UFC and talking. They understood later and did what I wanted," said Poatan.
Alex Pereira admits he was NOT hacked and he was the one behind the angry tweet at the UFC a few months ago
"It was kind of a miscommunication between camp, manager and the UFC. It's not the UFC's fault."

At the time, the Brazilian claimed to have been hacked and that the post had been made by the hacker. Although this explanation was viewed with little credibility by fans and members of the media, the matter cooled over time.
"I've always answered the UFC's calls, but if they want to play me, we can do that. I've never spoken ill of the UFC, but what I've heard leaves me discouraged. I've thought about never fighting again, and after what they told me, this could be the beginning," Poatan declared at the time.
Alex Poatan will face Magomed Ankalaev in October

Fortunately for the Brazilian, he will have the opportunity to reclaim his belt at UFC 320, when he will face Ankalaev for the second time in the main event. The two faced each other in UFC 313, in March of this year. On that occasion, the Russian dominated the fight by combining a standing pressure game with takedown attempts, emerging with a unanimous decision victory and becoming the new king of the division.
