In a post on his official X account (formerly Twitter), the Belgian expressed regret for not being able to make the fight official.

In the post, the fighter showed a video of the weight cutting process and in addition to apologizing to fans, he also took the opportunity to inform that this was the first time he was unable to win the duel with the scale.
"For the first time in 25 fights, I missed weight, and that had to happen in my UFC debut... I wanted to continue and would have given everything to make weight, but my body wouldn't let me. I sincerely apologize to all my fans. I'll be back, as I always do when I fall in life," said the fighter, a former two-division Oktagon MMA champion.

At 27, the Belgian was one of the company's most recent signings. He boasts an impressive record of 16 wins and only one loss, the latter due to a foot injury. Ten of his victories have come via knockout.
