After being cut from the UFC for missing weight, promising MMA fighter signs with the PFL

After having the UFC's doors closed as retaliation for failing to make weight on several occasions, Bryan Battle already has a new place to work. This Friday (5), the PFL announced through posts on its social networks the signing of the American, who has not known what it is to lose as a professional since December 2022 and has competed most of the time as a welterweight (up to 77,1 kg).

In the publication, the company briefly communicated the acquisition of the fighter to the public, but defined him as a middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) in addition to making a pun with the phrase “Did you understand what I said?”, for which the athlete became known on social media.

Despite having a four-fight winning streak in his last five bouts, Battle's unprofessional conduct frustrated the Ultimate's matchmakers . In six fights in the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg), the fighter failed to make weight on two occasions, forcing him to change weight classes.

His debut as a middleweight (up to 83.9 kg) was scheduled to take place at UFC 319 in August of this year against Nursulton Ruziboev . However, the fight was canceled after the American weighed in at 86,2 kg, more than 2 kg above the division limit. At the end of the month, he was officially released from the organization.

At just 30 years old, the athlete arrived at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) through the 29th season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he was part of Alexander Volkanovski 's team and competed in the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg). Battle ended up winning the tournament by submitting Gilbert Urbina with a rear-naked choke in the second round, in August 2021. Since then, he has had eight other fights in the world's largest MMA organization and has been defeated only once.
