Hype over? Mauricio Ruffy is submitted by Benoit Saint-Denis on an uninspired night at UFC Paris

Hype over? Mauricio Luffy's skills were no match for the strength and grappling of Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event of UFC Paris, held this Saturday (6). Motivated by the crowd, the Frenchman insisted on grappling, dominated the nerd on the ground and won by submission in the second round.

With the negative result, Ruffy suffered his second career loss, his first in the UFC octagon. Saint-Denis, on the other hand, continued his good form and is now on a two-fight winning streak, after losing two in a row.

The athletes began the fight in mirrored positions, and after a few feints, the Frenchman secured a takedown, moved to mount, and took the Brazilian's back. Halfway through the round, Ruffy managed to get back up, but was knocked down again and had to fend off his rival's attacks until he managed to get back up in the final part of the round.

In the second stage, Benoit Saint-Denis returned to fill the gaps, but this time Ruffy landed some solid counter strikes. Halfway through the round, Benoit insisted on the clinch and secured another takedown. From behind, the Frenchman applied a rear-naked choke and earned three taps from the Brazilian fighter.
