Benoit Saint-Denis did not give space to the talent of Maurício Ruffy in the co-main event of the UFC Paris, held this Saturday (6). The Frenchman insisted on the takedown from the first minute of the fight and, after complete dominance, finished the Brazilian with a rear naked choke in the second round.
With the victory, Saint-Denis reinforced his good form and is now on a two-fight winning streak, after losing two in a row. Meanwhile, Ruffy suffered his second career loss, his first in the UFC octagon.
Halfway through the first round, Ruffy managed to get up from his first takedown, but was knocked down again and had to fend off his opponent's attacks until he managed to get back up near the bell. In the second round, Saint-Denis returned to pressuring and closing the gap, while Ruffy landed some solid counter strikes. However, midway through the round, the Frenchman insisted on the clinch, applied another takedown, and, from behind, invested in a rear-naked choke, forcing Ruffy to tap out.
