In an interview with the North American website 'MMA Junkie' this Thursday (11), the Brazilian acknowledged that the intense pace of fights in a short period of time may have harmed his evolution. Therefore, he intends to change this aspect in the future.
"Looking back, maybe if I had planned things better, I wouldn't have been so active. It's really about opportunity—if something comes up, maybe I'll take it, but... I don't think so," he said.

Alex Poatan had four fights in less than a year

After knocking out Jiri Prochazka for the first time in November 2023 and become the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg), the São Paulo native had three fights between April and October 2024, all valid for the title and achieving knockout victories in all of them. Among these commitments, the most notable took place in UFC 303, when he replaced Conor McGregor and accepted a rematch with the Czech.
Since his loss to Ankalaev, the former champion has reduced his media appearances and hasn't stepped into the Octagon since March of this year. The two are scheduled to meet again in October of this year in Las Vegas.
