Just stepping into the octagon Night UFC, this Saturday (13), Alice Pereira made history as the youngest female athlete to debut in the organization. The 19-year-old from Bahia, however, ended up defeated by the Mexican Montserrat Rendon in the judges' split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27) in a bantamweight bout (up to 61,2 kg). Betting on a game of movement and counterattacks, the Brazilian ended up not doing enough to take the victory at the end of the three rounds.

The defeat in his UFC debut was his first Alice Pereira in her career. The 'Golden Girl' had won the first six fights of her career.

On the other side, Montserrat Rendon is recovering from the loss she suffered against Darya Zheleznyakov in March of last year. The 36-year-old Mexican now has two wins and one loss in the octagon.

Alice Pereira relies on movement and counterattacks, but falls short in her UFC debut

Montserrat Rendon started the fight walking forward. Alice Pereira repelled the Mexican's approach with a straight and cross. The Brazilian successfully defended Rendon's first two takedown attempts. The fight continued in the same tone, with Montserrat Rendon seeking to surround and Alice Pereira moving around a lot and circling. In the final stretch of the round, the Mexican managed to clinch for the first time, but didn't complete the takedown. In the final seconds, Alice attacked with a good boxing sequence.

In the first seconds of the second round, Montserrat Rendon made another takedown attempt, which was easily denied by Alice Pereira, who maintained her circling strategy. The fight heated up when the Mexican pushed the Brazilian and followed up with a flurry of punches to close the distance. For the first time moving forward, Alice worked some combinations of jab, straight, and overhands. Rendon managed to land a counterattack, and the Brazilian felt it and attempted a takedown, but landed poorly. From the advantage, the Mexican went to the back and attacked a rear-naked choke, but didn't have time to finish.

Needing to run after, Alice Pereira began the third round more aggressively, moving forward, striking, and even taking him down, but to no avail. After shaking off the initial pressure, Montserrat Rendon regained control of the center of the Octagon. The Mexican continued to hunt, while the Brazilian moved and explored counterattacks. In the final minute, Alice denied another takedown by Rendon. In the final seconds, the two engaged in a frank exchange, complete with mouthguards flying.
