Alex Poatan opens up about adjustments to beat Ankalaev at UFC 320: 'There are two details'

The former champion says he needs to change some things to recover from the defeat and secure the light heavyweight belt.

Alex Poatán is confident that the path to victory Magomed Ankalayev undergoes corrections to his strategy. In an interview with 'Lance,' Poatan emphasized that he only needs two small adjustments to get his arm raised against Ankalaev. According to the former champion, he is in a constant process of evolution, where a mistake is always corrected in the subsequent fight.

"I'd say there are two details we're working on and correcting. But the reality is there's always room for improvement; there are always mistakes we make in a fight and we try to correct in the next one. That's the process. It's a moment of revenge, and I know there's a lot of anticipation surrounding this fight against Ankalaev," said Poatan.

Alex Poatán arrived at the UFC with little experience in professional MMA, but with high expectations, after having defeated Israel adesanya in kickboxing. In his initial career with the organization, he achieved three victories, two by knockout, which earned him the opportunity to face Adesanya for the middleweight title (up to 83,9 kg).

In the first fight for the belt, Poatan defeated Adesanya by knockout in the fifth round, but in the rematch against the Nigerian he ended up knocked out in the second round.
