Commentator laments the absence of the former UFC champion and reveals “pity” for his opponents: “It was painful just watching”

Apontado como um dos lutadores mais assustadores na história do MMA, Francis Ngannou acabou não conseguindo realizar sonho de ter longo reinado na divisão peso pesado (até 120,2kg) do UFC. Ainda campeão da organização, o atleta teve problemas contratuais com Dana White, que culminou em drama e inimizade com o presidente da empresa.

A behind-the-scenes witness to UFC negotiations, longtime commentator Joe Rogan once again reiterated his discomfort with the absence of the French-Cameroonian fighter from the division's roster. According to the veteran, the non-renewal of the contract was a tragedy.

"He's a gigantic human being. The guy is enormous. It's a real tragedy that he and the UFC couldn't come to an agreement. It really bothers me because that guy was, without a doubt, the scariest heavyweight champion of all time. He would knock guys into orbit. He would beat them, and you'd be like, 'Oh!' It was painful just watching. You'd be like, 'Oh, no.' Not all men are created equal. That's another problem with fighting," Rogan said on his podcast.

Em sua última aparição no octógono, Ngannou derrotou Ciryl Gane na decisão unânime dos juízes. Ao iniciar conversa para renovação contratual, o até então campeão acabou tendo planos frustrados. Determinado a lutar pela maior valorização dos seus companheiros de trabalho, o ex-campeão não teve pedido atendido e optou por se tornar um agente livre.

Desde então, Ngannou realizou lutas de boxe contra nomes como Tyson Fury e Anthony Joshua, perdendo em ambas oportunidades. Já em seu retorno ao MMA, o atleta lutou na PFL e nocauteou Renan Problema em outubro de 2024. Atualmente, Ngannou segue inativo nos esportes de combate.
