Former UFC fighter announces retirement after breaking 12-fight winless streak

Veteran of the sport, Melvin Guillard had not won a professional MMA fight since 2014.

Without a win in MMA since 2014, Melvin Guillard finally triumphed again and then made an important decision. Last Saturday (20), in Louisiana (USA), the former UFC fighter knocked out Terry Wiggins in a devastating way, ending a bad streak that lasted 12 fights (11 losses and one 'no contest'). After celebrating the 'achievement', the 42-year-old American decided to retire from the sport.

In action at Ragin FC 3, Guillard needed just 27 seconds to write his final chapter in the sport. Thus, the athlete, who began his professional MMA career in 2002, bowed out with a redemptive victory and the way he became known: delivering brutal knockouts.

"I left the way I came in, just as I said! It's been an incredible career and will always end on top of the world. To all my haters, I appreciate your hate. With love... I'm out!" the veteran declared in the post-fight interview and on his official Facebook page.

Melvin Guillard, 42, ended his MMA career with a record of 33 wins, 24 losses, two draws, and three no contests. Despite his inconsistent record, the American achieved prominence in the UFC's lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), where he won five straight. His most notable victories were over Gleison Tibau, Jeremy Stephens, Among others.
