Ridder's Reinier did not mince words when talking about Paulo borrachinha. Scheduled for the main fight of the UFC Vancouver, on October 18, the Dutchman spoke about the Brazilian's refusal to face him, which opened the way for the entry of Brendan allen as a replacement.
De Ridder regretted the departure of anthony hernandez, his original opponent, but he didn't hide his dissatisfaction with Borrachinha's stance. According to the Dutchman, the Minas Gerais native would only accept competing under his own conditions, which ultimately made the match unfeasible.

"Nobody wanted to fight. We tried Costa, but Costa wanted it on his terms, so it didn't happen. I'm very grateful to Brendan for answering the call. Costa wanted the fight at catchweight and for only three rounds. I think if you get a chance like this in a main event, an opportunity to move up in the rankings, you should just shut up and say yes, not set your terms. Fuck it, take it and fight!" De Ridder said in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.
Paulo borrachinha recently bounced back from a two-game losing streak by beating the Russian Roman Kopylov at UFC 318 in July. The Brazilian is currently ranked 13th in the middleweight rankings. Ridder's Reinier is ranked fourth and is aiming for a chance to fight for the belt in the category in case of victory over Allen in the UFC Vancouver.
