This Saturday (4), in Las Vegas (USA), Alex Poatán has an extremely important commitment in his career. In the main event of UFC 320, the Brazilian will have his long-awaited rematch against his executioner Magomed Ankalayev, light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg). Despite a tough loss to the Russian in their previous duel, which took place in March, via unanimous decision, the renowned striker made sure to get his fans excited.

In an interview with the UFC's official YouTube channel, Poatan admitted he was somewhat disappointed by the setback. The Brazilian's lament is understandable, given that, after hearing so much from his rival, he failed to impose his standup game and even lost out in striking, his strong point, in a fight that was more dramatic than exciting.

However, Alex exudes confidence in his comeback and reclaiming the belt. He even seemed unimpressed by Ankalaev's skill level.

"I was sad. It was a lukewarm fight, but everyone saw it and said this wasn't Alex Pereira and all that. I think my story is much bigger than that. With everything I've built, achieved, and shown, this frustration doesn't exist, because I'll have the opportunity to win my belt back. I believe I can be much better than him, that I can beat him, neutralize his game, and put on a show for everyone," declared the former champion.

Royal rivalry

As before, the atmosphere between the athletes for the rematch is hostile. The animosity is so real that Poatan and Ankalaev came face-to-face at the UFC Performance Institute and exchanged unfriendly words with the help of Google Translate.
