"Hey everyone. I'm already being discharged from the hospital, after being hospitalized since Sunday. I had surgery and needed sedation, but everything went well. Now I'm released and recovering. We're fine," said the four-time champion, his arm bandaged.
Acelino did not give further details about the procedures performed, but stated that the surgery was successful. The injury was caused by an accident that occurred during the post-fight commotion with Wanderlei Silva , in which Popó's son, Rafael Freitas, punched Wanderlei, knocking him down and leaving him unconscious for a few moments. The former MMA fighter was hospitalized with fractures and hematomas, but has already been discharged.
The incident also led to the cancellation of the fight between Popó and former Big Brother Brazil contestant Diego Alemão, scheduled for November at the Fight Music Show . In light of the situation, the event organizers opened a poll for fans to choose the former BBB champion's new opponent.
