Alex Poatan chooses Carlos Prates as his favorite Brazilian fighter in the UFC

Alex Poatán is one of the biggest stars in the UFC, but he also has his fan side. Scheduled to face Magomed Ankalayev again this Saturday (4), in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian was short and blunt when electing Carlos Prates as the compatriot he most enjoys watching in action.

During UFC 320's media day, the former UFC champion praised the Fighting Nerds team member. And Poatan's choice makes sense, given that Prates, like him, is a striking specialist, a knockout artist, and a regular competitor.

Discovered by the 'Contender Series' program in 2023, the 'Fighting Nerds' product debuted in the UFC the following season and rose rapidly. To date, Prates has competed in six fights, winning five, all by knockout and earning 'Performance of the Night' bonuses, and lost one to Ian Machado Garry. Currently, the Brazilian is ranked ninth in the company's welterweight ranking (up to 77,1 kg).
