After knocking out Magomed Ankalaev and regaining the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg) at UFC 320, Alex Poatan spoke with the emotion of someone who had something stuck in his throat. In a video released on the UFC's social media channels shortly after the fight, the Brazilian made a direct statement to the fans, recalled criticism he received after his previous defeat, and highlighted his confidence in the rematch.
"Hey, Brazilians! We're in this together! It was a show! I promised you guys and I delivered. I told you I wasn't feeling well (in the first fight). Today I feel good. I knew it would be like this. I was feeling great, confident. Thanks for everyone's support. And for those who didn't believe me: believe me now, dammit," declared Poatan, visibly moved.

The response came in the form of a devastating knockout, just 1 minute and 20 seconds into the fight, enough to silence critics and, as the fighter himself emphasized, deliver on his promise. Poatan also thanked his Brazilian fans for their support and reinforced the connection he maintains with the public, especially during the most difficult moments of his career.
Despite his convincing victory, the champion raised concerns when he appeared wearing an orthopedic boot after the fight. According to him, it's "almost certain" that he fractured his foot during the fight.
