Alex Poatan 's impressive victory over Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 last Saturday (4) may have been accompanied by a physical problem. Right after the referee ended the fight, the Brazilian was caught grabbing his own toes and trying to adjust them, which raised suspicions of injury.
During the post-event press conference, Dana White confirmed that the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) was showing worrying signs and revealed that he was walking around backstage wearing an orthopedic boot.

"He definitely either dislocated or broke his toes or something. I don't know for sure, but I saw what you all saw, and it looked like he really messed up his toes," the UFC president said.
Earlier, Poatan himself had already stated that he suspected a fracture in his foot, claiming to have felt the impact from the first kick he landed against Ankalaev. The fighter will undergo tests in the coming days to confirm the diagnosis and determine his recovery time.
With the victory, Alex Poatan regained the light heavyweight title and reinforced his desire to eventually move up a weight class to challenge Jon Jones in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg).
