Before the knockout, Poatan secured a takedown and went for ground and pound. There, the Brazilian precisely targeted the already compromised area of the body, landing powerful and repeated elbow strikes to the injured rib.
A few seconds later, a standing right hand finished the fight in just 1m20s, returning the belt to the Brazilian and ending the fight in brutal fashion.

Russo insisted on fighting even though he was injured
Ankalaev's decision to step into the octagon, despite being injured, was the subject of comments from manager Ali Abdelaziz, who admitted, in a post on Instagram, that "a lot of things happened in the camp" and that he would have preferred the Russian not to fight.
Still, the fighter chose to move forward and was quickly defeated.
Poatan also revealed pain
Despite the victory, the Alex Poatán also reported physical problems. In a post-event press conference, the Brazilian said he was "almost certain he broke his foot" during the fight. For now, the UFC has not confirmed whether it plans to promote a trilogy between the two rivals.
